The United States society is unsustainable in a number of dimensions and as a whole. The Solar Guild aims to be an incubator of resolution. Or in other words, we aim to throw many darts at the board of progress to see what sticks–doublng down on what sticks and pruning what does not.
The most fundamental centers of this initiative is serving as a institution that supports systems improvement through helping coordinate labor and industry.
The beachhead is supporting organization and coordination of the labor force, most notably starting out at AMZL because this is where I am most knowledgeable. I cannot claim expertise beyond AMZL although have reason to believe this persists broadly throughout US industry.
Our aim is to not be a formal labor organization nor do we directly support the contemporary union. I believe that unions have grown in many ways to be the very extractionary organisms they claim to protect against.
I believe that coordination and organization can lead to higher benefits/experience/pay while also generating greater business results and stronger domestic industry.
While I lack belief that the union model is the solution, I do believe that any form of labor organizing is better than not because an essential skill of the future is institutional competence–and by foregoing organization and coordination efforts, we are collectively degrading an increasingly essential competence.
And this discourse community is merely created to promote discourse. As Einstein had said, if I had an hour to solve a problem, I would spend fifty-five minutes defining it–meaning that merely bringing forth problems is acceptable.
So please, please, please, feel free to contribute via posting any thoughts, ideas or questions, especially if you have a contrarian perspective. Groupthink rarely effectively solve problems.
Finally, this is the very infancy of a half-century initiative. So please understand that we are here for the long run as opposed to generating instantaneous results, although we would love to generate rapid results if feasible.
